Fred Wesley & the New JBs
Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, W1D 4HT , [Venue Details]A towering architect of funk, legendary trombonist Fred Wesley brings his timeless groove back to the stage with The New JBs - a powerhouse ensemble that has carried the heartbeat of classic funk and jazz for over three decades.
From his era-defining work as James Brown’s musical director to his pivotal role in George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic and collaborations with icons like Ray Charles, Count Basie, Van Morrison, and Cameo, Wesley’s influence runs deep through the history of funk, soul and R&B.
Responsible for some of the funk's most enduring anthems - “House Party”, “Blow Your Head”, “Same Beat”, “Damn Right I Am Somebody”, and countless others, Wesley continues to define the sound of roots funk with irresistible energy and commanding musicianship. Now in his eighties, he remains a creative force, leading The New JBs with the same fire that fuelled the now-legendary JB Horns sound alongside Maceo Parker and Pee Wee Ellis.
